1st Grade:  Marcus Bailey, Jada Lopez, Amy Balderas, Alexandra Valencia

2nd Grade: Evelyn Hurtado, Michelle Montano,  Tanya Perez Vargas

3rd Grade:  Alondra Salazar, Charles Bryant, Monzerrat Guzman

4th Grade: Eduardo Avila, Natalie Latosek, Justin Moreno

5thGrade:  Brandon Valencia, Vincent Ballardo

Attendance

To excuse an absence, we must hear from you within 24 hours of the student’s return to school. Please send a note or call the absence line at 706-4130 (press 2). When your child is sick, please make sure they stay home. If they have a temperature over 100 degrees, students need to be fever free for 24 hours without the aid of fever reducing medication. If they have a cough or sneezing more than normal. If your child complains of pain in ears, throat, head, or chest. Has thrown up in the past 12 hours or had 2 or more episodes of diarrhea in the past 24 hours.

Although we are asking that you let your child take responsibility for what they need to bring to school as this teaches them to become responsible adults, you as the parent are responsible for getting your child to school on time. Students need to be at school at 8:00 a.m. Please arrange your morning schedule so that this becomes the practice at your house.

Principal's Message

We are quickly approaching our most important assessment time of the year, the STAR/CST.  The assessment will be given to the 2nd-5thgrade students at our school.  Please mark your calendars.  The test dates will be May 1-May 11.  Our teachers are currently working arduously to prepare our students for this very important test.  Please support our efforts by making sure that your child attends school on those days, that they have had a great night’s sleep, and that they have eaten breakfast.  Please try to schedule any appointments after school on those dates.  I appreciate your support and I know that our students will do their best on the test!

Sincerely,

Sylvia Ramirez - Principal

STAR Testing Information from Mary McCarthy, Director, Educational Services, AUSD

Again this spring all students in grades 2-11 will be taking standardized tests, either the California Standards Test (CST), California Modified Assessments (CMA) or the California Alternative Performance Assessment (CAPA) as part of the STAR program. Teachers will receive a written report of the test results for all of their students.  Parents or guardians will receive a written report of their child’s scores.  The test information will provide a snapshot of the progress your child is making in mastering the California standards.  The scores will not affect a child’s grades.  This information may be helpful in discussing your child’s goals and objectives.  This information is also useful in deciding if students would benefit from special programs such as gifted and talented, summer school, etc.  The results of the STAR are also used to determine if your child’s school meets accountability goals of the federal law of No Child Left Behind (NCLB). It is very important that each student is tested to help meet these goals. If you do not want your student to take the STAR, contact an administrator at your school to make appointment to discuss the waiver process.

Drop Off and Pick Up

It is very important that you follow the guidelines outlined in the Kimball Parent handbook with regards to dropping off and picking up students. It is also very important that you follow the instructions of the teachers who are helping with the flow of traffic. Our parking lot has very limited space. Remember, you cannot make a left turn from August Way onto our driveway. Also, please be mindful of the time you drop off in the morning and pick-up in the afternoon. Please drop off your student after 7:45 a.m. if they do not eat breakfast at school. There is no playground supervision before then. Your child must be picked up by 2:50, supervision is not provided after that time. We have had a good number of students waiting after school to get picked-up and a few students who are left on campus unsupervised before 7:30 a.m. No student should be arriving earlier than 7:30 a.m. on any day.
